Qila Mubarak in Bhatinda

One of the best tourist places in Punjab is the Qila Mubarak situated in Bhatinda. Built by Maharaja Ala Singh in the year 1764, it is a popular historical monument in the state. It is the place where Delhi’s first woman ruler, Razia Sultana was imprisoned. There are two main parts of the fort – Qila Mubarak and Qila Androon. Qila Androon served as the royal family’s residence and has got a stunning beauty when it comes to defining the Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. The Darbar Hall has been converted into a museum exhibiting the King’s ancient armors and arms.  

Sheesh Mahal

Sheesh Mahal was constructed by Maharaja Narinder Singh in the year 1847. It was a stunningly beautiful royal palace showcasing the stature of the then kings of Punjab. As the name suggests, it was referred as the Palace of Mirrors situated behind the Moti Bagh Palace. The three-storied building is highly impressive with the colored glass mirror design. The palace is considered as one of the most visited places in Punjab and one of the reasons behind it is the artificial lake centrally located and the little bridge over the lake. The bridge is named lakshman Jhula from where you can have an amazing view of the dancing fountain and beautiful flower garden on both sides. Remember to see the museum inside the palace.    

Old Moti Bagh Palace

Anyone expecting a delightful exploration in the state of Punjab must visit the Old Moti Bagh Palace. Located in Patiala, it is a sight that shouldn’t be missed by a traveler seeking royalty and grandeur. The still stood building of the Palace was built by the Maharaja of Patiala around 1840s and was reconstructed by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1920s. In the present day, the Moti Bagh Palace is a structure having a taxidermy gallery, North Zone Cultural Centre and museum.

Qila Anandgarh Sahib

Situated in the center of Anandgarh district of Punjab, there’s a historical monument constructed by the famous Guru Gobind Singh. This is one of the five Qilas constructed in Punjab to offer protection to the Sikhs from invaders. The palace encloses a spectacular Gurudwara and is located at a distance of 800m south-east of Takht Sri Keshgarh. The palace along with its four other forts called Lohgarh, Fatehgarh, Holgarh and Keshgarh of Anandpur contribute to form a popular Sikh Tourist Circuit. All these historical structures are well-connected through underground passage.
