On April 2005, MS Dhoni had announced himself on the international stage by hitting 148 runs off 123 balls against Pakistan on his fifth ODI in Vizag. Later, MS Dhoni surpassed his own record by hitting 183 runs against Sri Lanka in Jaipur in 2005.

13 Years ago, on 31st October 2005 in Third One Day International of Sri Lanka’s Tour of India in Jaipur, Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained unbeaten and smashed 183 runs off 145 balls. In that knock, he hit 10 sixes and 15 fours. India chased 299 runs and won the match by 6 wickets. This is MS Dhoni’s highest ODI score till now.

Celebrating the 13 years of MSD, BCCI on Twitter posted “Throwback - On this day in 2005, @msdhoni notched his highest ODI score. KaBOOM all the way ”

After the match, Dhoni told that after his148 runs this is what expected of him, he is happy with the number three position. But he is also happy to play where ever the team management decides. He told that when the first ball was bowled he read the wicket and as the game progressed it became flat. He told it was a long innings for him and he kept for 50 overs and batted for a time so it was tough for him.

Indian Skipper Rahul Dravid praised Dhoni and told it was “unbelievable stuff”.  He told that they were all privileged to watch such an inning. It was a fantastic knock. When they went into the dressing room they believed that they could get it.

Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket has been dropped from the T20I squad for the upcoming series against West Indies and Australia. But he still remains the No.1 choice as wicketkeeper batsmen for 2019 ODI World Cup.

Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar told that Virat Kohli needs MS Dhoni and he has no doubt about it. He also told that in 50 overs where there is more time, MSD comes into play. He makes small field adjustments and tells bowlers from where to bowl and what to bowl. As per him, it will be a huge plus for Virat.
