Classification Specialists in CA MISCOPosted by misco on November 1st, 2018 We are often asked; “To what do we attribute our success with the Bureau’s Data Accuracy Program” aka Test Audit Program. The answer is really quite simple, it is Audit Review, Of course, a little luck always helps. Every single audit is fully reviewed by top management staff for accuracy and compliance with Bureau rules and classifications. Our review is not based so much on what the auditor says but rather what in our experience is usually the case. When there are conflicts between the auditor’s narrative and what we think is usually the case, the audit is returned to the auditor for additional information. We also try to implement audit procedural changes to reflect Bureau rule changes. For example, we include a “picture” of a time card to show its compliance when allowing high wage rate construction classifications. This, together with tests and other analysis serves to really eliminate errors based on the wage rate. Whenever the classification assignment is questionable, we will utilize the Bureau website to determine if there is an outstanding inspection and the classifications assigned. No auditor knows it all and the audit reviewer plays a critical role in data accuracy. Strong audit review is the great equalizer!
