A lot of leadership studies report qualities such as assertiveness, adaptability, intelligence, and conscientiousness were cited of the utmost importance for leadership training skills. Research clearly shows that transformational leaders – leaders who are positive, inspiring, and who empower and develop followers – are always better leaders. They are more valued by followers and have higher and more efficient performing teams.
As a result, it would only make sense that you strive to improve your leadership skills and get the most out of life for everyone in your sphere and surroundings.
Leadership skills can play a large role in career development and enhancement. Often, your technical skills can only take you so far in your career. To help you move forward in your professional career, you need soft skills, such as the ability to be a good leader. Therefore, leadership skills are considered important traits that can help you get to the top of your professional career field. You’re more likely to be hired or get a promotion if you’ve been successful in leadership roles in your professional or your personal life.
Few people are inherently born leaders. Most of us need to practice being a good leader, and that’s why leadership training & development is so important. There are many different types of leadership skills, and there are many skill sets that can help you become a successful leader.

Here are 10 of the tips that are of utmost importance in becoming a good and effective Leader:

1.Have a clear goal & vision
Take the time to share your vision, your mission and your goals with your teammates. Your job as a leader is to provide a clear path that your team can follow without any doubts or hesitations. Your team also must comprehend why the goals you have set are valuable to them. Take the time to explain to them, in detail, why and how your vision will not only improve the business but in return how it will benefit them. Include your team in your strategic planning sessions, ask for constant feedback and get them to “settle into” your vision for the future of the company.

2. Serve as a role model for your team.
The best leaders have most certainly proved to walk the walk and talk the talk. As a result, group members admire these leaders and work to emulate these behaviors in everyone. If you want to become a better leader, work on modeling the qualities that you would like to see in your team members starting with yourself.

3. Recruit People with a Positive Mental Attitude (PMA)
Same as you must avoid unhealthy relationships, be sure to open the door to those that provide motivation and satisfaction to the team in return. People with a negative/pessimistic mindset will only cause the team’s morale to be lowered in turn, but with a ‘can do ‘ attitude even the toughest situations may seem a lot simpler.

4. Appeal to values and morales
Find out what’s important for your team and turn it into a driving force for motivation for your team. Leadership training is something that is an ongoing process and understanding your team better will definitely help facilitate that process.

5. Reward your team
There are many ways of rewarding good performance and in the process achieving important goals. The team will see it as an incentive to keep moving forward in the right direction. Incentivizing every tasks/activity is one of the key factors in motivating your teammates for leadership training while increasing their confidence as well.

6. Trust and delegate
As the title suggests, trust your team and delegate tasks. You will find that things can be done in many different ways and you will encourage creativity and motivate your teammates while having them all in a Positive mental state.

7. Be willing to admit and learn from failures and weaknesses of yours and your teammates.
Face it – No one is perfect, and everyone has made a mistake or two in their ongoing lives! The most successful leaders know that the key to success is not in avoiding falling or failing, but to learn from their mistakes while they do so. As a strong leader, you will also be able to communicate your weaknesses to your team and that is what leadership training is about so that you and your team can appoint someone who will excel at that particular task or activity.

8. Pinpoint certain “motivators”
They are those teammates who work enthusiastically and pass it on to the rest of the team as well. Make the professional development at the workplace of these people a priority.

9. Continue to educate and improve yourself as a person.
Great leaders demonstrate effective leadership skills, but most importantly, continue to improve themselves in every way possible. The person who thinks he is an expert has a lot more to learn in the ongoing process. The more you develop your skills in this process, the more you realize you have to develop. Never stop learning. Be always receptive to everyone’s perceptions and information from around the world. Always grow and learn in the process.

10. Don’t give up!
The key to success is to persevere. Every leader knows that giving up is never an option, even though it is wise to know how to quit intelligently. There is a very fine line between bravery and stupidity!
