Making cookies

Making cookies requires various tools depending on the amount, shape and sizes of the cookies required.  For this process, a 3-inch cookie cutter is required. The shape and size of the cookie cutter are ones that suit the occasion. However, it is important to ensure that each batch has cookies of the same size for them to bake evenly.  A rolling pin is important in this process. The wet ingredients required include softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.  The dry ingredients required include flour, salt, baking soda, brown sugar, and chocolate chips. 200 grams of butter are needed. Butter that melts well is the best for baking cookies.  50 grams of sugar are required. However, sugar should be used according to the preferred amount. It should be sweet but not excessively sweet. 120 grams of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt are needed. Most of these ingredients used in making cookies are often used in making other dishes. It is, therefore, easier to get whatever is needed the most. Other ingredients used include 2 fresh eggs. Care should be exercised when selecting eggs as eggs are very sensitive.  To add more taste to the cookie, 300g of flour, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and100 grams of walnut are needed. For chocolate chip cookies, 180 grams of chocolate is needed.  More may be used if necessary; however, this amount is just the right amount for most people. Process

The first step in making cookies involves mixing the ingredients and the dough. However, the oven should be preheated to 375°F.  The next step involves melting the butter.  Room temperature is used for melting the butter. In room-temperature, butter combines thoroughly and more easily with the other ingredients in the dough. The butter should be allowed to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes in order to bring it to the right consistency for mixing.  The butter should not be heated to melt; it should be soft enough to allow the making of an indentation using a finger.

When the butter is ready, baking soda, sugar, salt and brown sugar should be mixed.  Ready butter may be recognized by its ability to blend easily with other ingredients. An electric mixture may be used to beat butter until it is smooth. It should be ensured that the butter mixes completely with the other ingredients. Beat in the sugar, baking soda, and salt until they completely combine with the butter. The process should be continued until the mixture is consistent and lightens in color. The process incorporates tiny air bubbles into the dough to help make the cookies tender and light. Scraping the side of the bowl is required to make the mixture uniform. The ingredients should not be over mixed as they may make the cookies to be denser.Then, the two eggs should be broken gently so as to ensure that shells don’t go in. Egg shells affect the quality of cookies or may cause difficulties if the fragments have to be taken out. The mixture with vanilla should become creamy. It often takes about 2-3 minutes to make it sufficient for the next step. Flour, Walnut and Chocolate chips should be mixed as the last ingredients.

The last step in making cookies is baking. The shapes desired should be made using the dough. However, the thickness should be limited to 2.5cm to ensure that cook well. Too thick cookies may take long than necessary or remain half cooked even after expiration of time. Many people prefer round cookies as they bake well, all round as heat effectively reaches every corner of the cookies.  The cookies should then be placed carefully on the cookie sheet. Spaces should be left between the dough as cookies expand and rise during the baking process. If spaces are not left, cookies may stick to each other. The cookies should then be put in the oven. A period of 15 minutes under the right temperatures is enough to effectively bake the cookies. It is imperative to keep track of time to avoid over cooking.  The conditions of the cookies should frequently be checked. The process may result in two kinds of cookies. Cookies may be soft and sweet or crunchy. The kind of cookies is determined by the amount of time spent on the baking process as well as the thickness of the cookies. When cookies are ready, they can be served.
