Global demand for automation is expected to be very strong

According to Japan Economic News on October 18, the International Federation of Robots (IFR) said at a news conference in Tokyo on October 18 that global sales of industrial robots are expected to maintain an average annual growth rate of about 14% by 2021. It is estimated that the sales volume in 2021 will reach 630 thousand units, which will increase to more than 1.5 times in 2017. Despite trade frictions and other adverse factors, the global demand for automation is expected to be very strong, and the sales of industrial robots will maintain a high growth rate.
In addition to the increased demand for automation due to shortage of human resources, the high performance of robotic systems such as artificial intelligence (AI) robots and advances in sensor technology will also promote the popularity of industrial robots.

At the press conference, Junji Tsuda, president of the International Robotics Federation (Anchuan Electric Machinery), expressed his expectations for future sales. Although affected by Sino-US friction, enterprises may not be able to decide where and when to invest, but the demand for automation will not disappear. Sales will increase in the future, and he is confident in the growth of industrial robots.
It is estimated that the global sales of industrial robots will grow by 10% over the same period in 2018, reaching 421 thousand units. Although this growth rate has slowed down compared with the 30% growth in 2017, the sales will continue to grow and set a new record.
From different regions, China, Japan, South Korea, the United States and Germany accounted for 73% of global sales by 2017. Among them, sales in China increased by 59% to 138 thousand, with a market share of 36%.
On the same day, sales of commercial service robots in 2017 increased by 39% compared to the same period last year, reaching US billion 600 million. Among them, the proportion of commercial service robots in the logistics sector is the highest, reaching 36%.
