Australia’s Mitchell Starc who was bought for a huge amount of Rs 9.40 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL 2018 auction has been released in IPL 2019. He is regarded as one of the best pacers of the generation.

Starc had played two seasons in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 where he picked 14 wickets and in 2015 where he picked 20 wickets. He could not take part in IPL 2018 due to his right leg injury during the Test series in South Africa earlier this year. He has encountered several other injuries in his career.

Starc told that he got a text message two days ago from the owners of Kolkata saying that he has been released from his contract, so at the moment he will be at home in April. He told at the moment, he just wants to play as much Test and one-day cricket for Australia as he can.

He said, “I obviously didn't go last year with my tibia injury and it was a great opportunity to freshen the body up, let everything heal by itself.”

"I guess barring a little niggle in my hammy I've felt pretty good with my body and my strength and the rest of it. That little period of time has really paid off for the body. If I don't play the IPL next year it's a good opportunity to freshen up for a massive six months of cricket in the UK." Strac quoted.
