Cash transactions in Sweden made up barely 2% of the value of all payments made in 2017 and id further anticipated to drop to 0.5% by 2020. In shops, cash is being used for barely 20% of the present transactions which is only half the number five years ago, and way below the global average of 75%. Sweden is moving fast towards being an electronic and cashless economy. In terms of the number of cards in circulation, its card payments channel posted a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2% during the review period.
