Pri Trade America - Venture Capital into the Construction Industry

Why does venture capital invest in the construction industry?   Because it sees the delta between what technology and innovation generally can now do, inside an industry that has not changed much at all for decades.

It’s happening – investment in AEC firms is at an all-time high.   Site monitoring, site worker and site management automation, design tools & management tools are just some of the areas that are growing.

Specialized VC investors have formed in the last decade.   Through July 2018 in 2018 alone, .4 billion has been invested in 62 deals.  Up from 0 mln from the whole of 2017.

Katerra received 5 mln in 2018.   Many see huge potential in these companies.

CB Insights analyst Wholey says “many startups are seizing the opportunity to build technology that would increase efficiency within this market”

Pandya of Brick & Mortar Ventures says an industry known for long time frames and flexible deadlines can be made more efficient.

Rhumbix recently raised million – to continue to develop their construction craft workforce application, and Procore raised 0 million, with their cloud based construction management software

Of course, the market is huge – real estate is the single biggest investment sector of any.   And there’s a lot of catching up to do in real estate technology based strategies and real estate technology.
