Are you someone who is always looking for unique new oils to add to your aromatherapy nebulizing diffuser? Or perhaps you’re on the lookout for new ways to ease certain health symptoms?

There are plenty of essential oils on the market, many of which are extremely common, versatile and practical for everyday use.

But one of the things that make the world of essential oils so interesting is that, when it comes to the extraordinary healing power of plants, there’s always new discoveries.

Today, we’ reintroducing 3 lesser known but fantastic organic essential you’ll want to consider adding to your collection if you’re looking for something new and different.

1. Helichrysum

You may have never heard of the miracle plant called Helichrysum (Helichrysum Gymnocephalum). The flowers from this plant, which is native to Madagascar, are steam distilled for oil extraction, resulting in an oil with a light smell reminiscent of fruit, honey, and tea.

Helichrysum has been used as a healing plant in and around the Mediterranean for centuries and today is readily harvested. It may be used for dermatitis, circulatory problems, bronchitis, herpes, heartburn, candida, rheumatism and gout. It also has aphrodisiac and stimulant properties.

This study also demonstrates its potential to help with stomach and digestive problems related to inflammation, and this study points to its potency as an antimicrobial agent.

Try blending helichrysum with chamomile, clary sage, rosewood or bergamot for use directly on the skin for muscle aches and pains. You can also use your favorite blend in the bath, as a spray, or inhale it via a nebulizer diffuser to help clear up colds and other respiratory illnesses.

2. Ravensara

The leaves of the Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica) plant are steam distilled for oil extraction. The oil may then be used for a range of ailments, but Ravensara’s most notable quality is its antiviral properties. Ravensara may be used to treat internal infections such as respiratory problems, sinus pain, and symptoms associated with cold and flus.

Ravensara is an excellent go-to during cooler months when the spread of colds and flus tend to be on the rise. It is also a pain reliever, antiseptic, antifungal, and relaxant. The plant oil may also be used topically to ease the pain of ailments such as herpes, toothaches, and earaches.

This is a fairly strong oil, so be sure to dilute it first before using it on the skin. Try blending a few drops with bergamot, pepper, cedarwood, eucalyptus, or grapefruit for colds and flus.

Though the plant originates in Madagascar, our certified organic ravensara essential oil is grown in South Africa via a sustainable fair trade farming exchange which supports both eco-friendly initiative and the economic well-being of people in the region.

3. Palo Santo

The wood of the Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) tree was originally used by indigenous people in South America for traditional ceremonies, as well as for immunity, colds and emotional well-being. Today it is used for a variety of health problems, including body pain, headaches, concentration, immune system, and infections.

The sweet, woody scent can be grounding and uplifting, which makes it wonderful to use in glass essential oil diffusers in spaces specifically meant for meditation and relaxation.
