The Mumbai based franchise, Mumbai Indians is the team is owned by Reliance Industries. The team plays its home matches in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians along with Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams of the IPL. They won the IPL title three times and became the first team to win three IPL titles. Mumbai Indians won IPL 2013 defeating Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2015 again by defeating Chennai Super Kings and the third title came in the year 2017 by defeating the Rising Pune Supergiant.

The team is captained by Hitman Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene was appointed as Mumbai Indians head coach. Rohit Sharma is the leading run scorer of Mumbai Indians while Lasith Malinga is the leading wicket-taker of the team.

The Mumbai based IPL Franchise have released 10 players ahead of the auction for IPL 2019. The players released include Saurabh Tiwary, Pradeep Sangwan, Mohsin Khan, MD Nidheesh, Sharad Lumba, Tajinder Singh Dhillon, JP Duminy, Pat Cummins, Mustafizur Rahman, and Akila Dananjaya.

From the squad of 28 players, The three-time Champions have retained 18 players. The core squad that consists of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollara and the Bumrah brothers.

Players Retained includes, Captain Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank Markande, Rahul Chahar, Anukul Roy, Siddhesh Lad, Aditya Tare, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, Kieron Pollard, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Adam Milne and Jason Behrendorff.
