Know all about Rajasthan Royals Squad for IPL 2019

Rajasthan Royals on 15th November submitted the official list of players retained by them to BCCI. November 15th was the last date for franchises to submit their retentions to BCCI as the player auction for IPL 2019 will be held in December and most probably IPL 12 will begin from 29th March 2019.

Jaipur based team Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of the IPL under the captaincy of Shane Warne. The team plays its home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur while it also plays at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Ahmedabad and the Brabourne Stadium at Mumbai.

In 2015, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were suspended for two years over a corruption and match-fixing scandal. So the team was not able to participate in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017 tournaments.

RR returned to the competition in 2018 with captain Ajinkya Rahane who is also the team’s leading run-scorer. The Royals leading wicket-taker is Shane Watson.

The winner of IPL 2008, Rajasthan Royals released D’Arcy Short, Ben Laughlin, Heinrich Klaasen, Dane Paterson, Zahir Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, Jaydev Unadkat, Anureet Singh, Ankit Sharma, and Jatin Saxena from their IPL 2019 Squad.

Rajasthan Royals have retained 16 players which include Ajinkya Rahane, Krishnappa Gowtham, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Gopal, Aryaman Birla, S. Midhun, Prashant Chopra, Stuart Binny, Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ish Sodhi, Dhawal Kulkarni, and Mahipal Lomror.

Zubin Bharucha who is the head of cricket for Rajasthan Royals on retention of players said, “The results in the previous season have been impressive and that is why we have decided not to disturb the balance of the squad. We cannot wait for the start of the 2019 season and preparation has already begun.”
