Influences of Data Communication and Networking

            There are two components that will have an immediate effect on data communication and networking today. The two components are the Internet of things (IoT) and big data analytics. IoT has made everything a thing where it connects everything such as alarm clock talking to the coffee maker and refrigerator. Big data will also transform customer experience with the help of IoT where they will access several data streams that they may not be in a position to access now.

            Others are the future of data center and how data will be stored. It seems that data will be stored in flash in the future. However, that is disputable where most of the data will be stored disks, and only hot and active data will be stored in flash. However, currently, most of the data is hot meaning that flash is the data storage of choice. It continues to say that companies with the ability to integrate high-performance flash with high-capacity storage media will have the capability to manage data excellently.

            Clouds will also influence data communications and networking. However, this will be possible with the adoption of multivendor hybrid clouds. This will prevent cloud customers being held captive by cloud supplier. Therefore, multiple server and storage suppliers will shape greatly data communications and networking. Additionally, software-defined storage will have an influence because the users will have a great freedom to control. They will have the capability to move data in the way that suits them thereby making cloud computing an extension of their IT environment. The fact that most users will prefer dockers to hypervisors to contain and store their scale-out applications will go far to influencing data communications and networking (Preimesberger, 2014).
