Locksmith Scam in Chicago

Over the past few years, the controversies regarding fake locksmiths have been high. There are a lot of people who come to the home claiming themselves to be professional locksmiths only to be later found out as fakes. Recently, the problem had taken place in Chicago.

Maria is an owner who rents houses for tenants. One of the tenants in her property asked her to change the locks. Maria had to find a locksmith to get it replaced. She searched for Locksmith Chicago on Google and a team showed up. Maria and the tenants were aware that it was a simple procedure.

In fact, they used the number that showed up on Google to call up the locksmith and enquired about how big of a procedure it is. They also asked for an estimated cost and the agency told them that it would cost them about 0. But when the locksmith finished his work, he asked the owner to pay him 0.

It was outrageous. Maria refused to pay him three times of what was quoted earlier. She also kept demanding for an invoice. But the agency told her that they do not give an invoice until the payment is done. This was where Maria found out that the agency was a fake. Usually, an invoice will be produced before the payment is done. The customer will look at the invoice to find out if there are any hidden costs and then will proceed to pay the bill. But this agency was doing something different. They also started threatening Maria. Maria was not ready to pay the amount and the agency told her that they would send this forward to collections. The agency is clearly tricking the customer. When you threaten a customer that the issue would be escalated to collections, the customer will be scared and will pay whatever is demanded.

Locksmith Chicago also went on to say that they never raise invoice before the payment is done even when they work for larger companies. It is against the mandate and is not how locksmith companies usually work. Also, on the website of their company, all the services that they do are priced extremely low. 0 in itself is a huge price for the work that they carried out at Maria’s house. Maria showed them their price list and demanded how they could charge her 0. The company said that they would accept 0 for her.

But until she gets an invoice, Maria has decided not to pay the company. It is fair on her part as the customer to demand an invoice. It is foolish to pay someone without knowing what’s included or excluded in it. Sometimes, Google search takes you to businesses that can be fake. You cannot gain the trust of a particular company without knowing its history. A lot of families in Tampa too, search for locksmith Tampa on Google. However, you can instead ask around for the best locksmith companies in Tampa who have years of experience handling such issues.
