A country girl with a dream to be a big Hollywood star and a young man craving fame as a rock star and the destiny brings them together between a wild and joyous situation to the Sunset Strip. The venue has had better days. Along with characters like Stacee Jaxx, a band’s frontman looking for a career as a soloist, then Hertz, businessman from Germany with intention to entirely renovate the area and lastly Justice, the owner of the gentleman’s club the ‘Rock of Ages’ is a stretched, Complex and romantic story of two hopeful stars. The storyline may be ‘we’ve heard it before’ type but combined with the classic rock music and a self-referential narrator is all good to go.

Lonny (Lucas Rush) narrated the story of Rock of Ages musical in his own unique but amusing style. A wise man with a lot of wits to keep breaking the fourth wall and involving the audience into the show. He also picked on some of the characters from time to time which made the performance all the more entertaining and fun.

The touring production is also one of its kind with its exclusive sense of designs and setup. The stage is designed as though a concert venue with steel revealing and walls build out of speakers and a huge screen to showcase the scene. The screen was among the delightful aspects of the evening.

Danielle Hope as the leading lady as Sherrie has been successful to bring joy to the show with her talented and melodious voice. Her voice was a vibrant match to the male lead and Sherrie’s love interest, Drew played by Luke Walsh. His voice is amazing with its rock quality and a roar that can be heard outside the theatre. More astonishing than that is he can hold a high note up till 30 seconds straight.

On the other hand, Rhiannon Chesterman and Andrew Carthy as Regina and Franz are a fabulous hilarious duo though rather a little mismatched and Sam Ferriday as Stacee Jaxx fittingly Vain in every way possible as a to an extent crooked star who has been through many ups and downs of a rock star life. Vas Constanti as Hertz is a bit preposterous but in a good sense having done the bog junk of physical comedy roles in the show. And Kevin Kennedy brought the old-school rock feel to the bar owner Dennis role just perfectly. Zoe Birkett was also brilliant with his roof smashing high octave voice.
