Virender Sehwag Contradicts Sunil Gavaskar in terms of openers for Team India?s

India’s tour of Australia will now witness the four-match test series that will start from December 6 in Adelaide. After IND vs AUS three-match T20I series which ended in a draw 1-1, all the focus is now shifted to upcoming test series.

Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar feels that Prithvi Shaw and Murali Vijay will make the perfect combination while Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag picks KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw to open for India against Australia in the upcoming four-match Test series.
Sehwag said, “I think if I am the captain I will give full series to KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw because Murali Vijay got his chance and now he has to wait for his chance again. If somebody flops in eight innings then I will think of giving Murali Vijay a chance. I think those who have been waiting for their turn should get a fair chance to prove themselves,”.
He feels “Prithvi Shaw proved himself, he scored a hundred on debut and scored 60 odd runs in the next match so he is the future, he will play next 10-12 for years. So he should get the full quota of matches in the series. I don’t see Murali Vijay playing in the Test matches in Australia,”.
While Sunil Gavaskar said that Prithvi Shaw had his form not just in New Zealand but also in the two Test matches that he played in the home. Gavaskar feels that KL Rahul form has not been well. He told that if KL Rahul had scored runs in Australia in the T20s and if he would have scored at least 30s or 40s then they could have said yes.
Gavaskar thinks that Murali Vijay has been doing well overseas for a long time and it had been a pretty ordinary series in England which can happen to anybody. He told Murli Vijay is a good player and he would like to see him open.
