With Mountainous landscape, fantastic coastline and rich history of Berbers makes Morocco a popular holiday destination. This North African country has plenty of attractions worth exploring. Considering historical facts and natural beauty, there are the best places you can visit in your trip to Morocco :

Marrakech

When the sun sets on Marrakech, the fumaroles of the Jemaa El Fna square rise, the Koutoubia lights up and the voice of a muezzin resounds. The Marrakchis are heading towards the famous square while the multicolored souks are gradually emptying. The palaces lock themselves in a silence full of history. This is the charm of Marrakech that seems to awaken after a day spent under the torpor of the sun and pollution of cars. Nestled at the foot of the High Atlas, the imperial city is divided into several distinct districts. The medina, surrounded by impressive ramparts, is the most authentic of all. This is where are the main attractions of Marrakech: the souks, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian tombs ... This site, classified by UNESCO, is also full of riads, or traditional houses, transformed for the needs of tourism in guest houses. To the west of the old town, the Hivernage district is a residential area housing luxury villas and tourist hotels. To the north, Gueliz is a modern district where many European hotels, restaurants, cafes and shops flourish, mainly along Avenue Mohammed IV. Finally, the palm grove, about 10 km from the city center, covers about 13,000 hectares. Reduced year by year by the tourist speculation, it contains today a large number of hotels and holiday clubs as well as a superb golf conceived by Robert Trent Jones.

Casablanca

As the economic and financial capital of the country, Casablanca serves as a stopover between two historic cities. The remains are scarce even if the Phoenicians occupied the place from the sixth century BC. The small medina has kept its Muslim charm and its many shops. At the exit of the ramparts, discover the modern city that contrasts with the colonial architecture of the 1930s. Towards the corniche is the "highest religious building in the universe": the Hassan II mosque inaugurated in 1993 and built by the French architect Michel Pinseau. The monument, built on the Atlantic Ocean, is about ten meters above the sea. Its 200 m minaret is equipped with a laser. It indicates the direction of Mecca. The decoration remains refined despite the wealth of materials: 10,000 m² of zelliges, 67,000 m² of plaster, 53,000 m² of wood. The building accommodates up to 150,000 people. Do not miss it, it's open to everyone.

Fes

Fez is the cultural city of Morocco. Two days are necessary to discover it in depth. Drive along its stone walls, then go to the merinid tombs. From the ruined necropolis, the view extends over "the most imperial imperial cities". In the enclosure, the crowd is busy in Fez el Bali where alleys and passages lead to the district of Qaraouiyyîn. In the heart of the medina, you stroll in the souk of the dyers before coming to the place Seffarine, stronghold of the dinandiers. Then, it is the sector of the tanners, the souk of the carpenters and the henna to the madrasah el Attarin, Koranic School, masterpiece of the Marinid art built in the fourteenth century.

Agadir

Agadir, with its large sandy beach 7 km long and 300 days of sunshine a year, attracts many tourists who come to spend holidays with family or friends. Bordered by an endless line of hotels and residences more or less upscale, the waterfront has become a popular place on the Atlantic coast of Morocco where bathing, sun and relaxation are the main entertainment.

At the souk, you can stock up on souvenirs, spices, carpets, jewels. The more active ones can practice all kinds of water sports such as windsurfing, water skiing or parasailing.

In the evening, stroll on the promenade and to the Marina as all the families of Agadir. At the Marina you will find many restaurants, bars and shops.

Essaouira

This is the most scenic seaside town, located on Morocco's coast. Its colorful fishing boats, fort walls and old town. Visiting this site would be a delightful experience. This town provides the most decent options to taste the most authentic food. Walk along the scenic coast, enjoy surfing and indulge in numerous playful activities.

Do not miss the visit of the fishing port early in the morning. Colors and atmosphere to discover, a moment that will surely mark your most beautiful memory of the city. The port of Essaouira is an excursion on its own. You will discover the shipyards, the trawlers coming and going, the quays transformed into a fish market on the way back from fishing.

Tangier

Separated from the Spanish coast by the Strait of Gibraltar, the former artistic capital is still mysterious.Tangier is a city with a special atmosphere. Formerly Spanish, American, French ... it has kept this mixture of cultures. This ancient international city attracts travelers looking for a rich past.

Tangier is the most beautiful city which inspired many legendary writers. It has great literary past, was an inspiration for William Burroughs for writing Naked Lunch and Paul Bowles's The Sheltering Sky.
