The kitchen is the most significant part of every home. We all get fulfilled one of our primary needs (food) from it. Hence, its design and building matter a lot. Here, we have some important tips before starting the design process.

It is necessary to understand how the kitchen is going to be used. It shouldn’t be just a leftover space or a space to be defined at the end of a project. It should be able to accommodate various flows and different work areas. Read more on Kitchen Design and Build in London.

Workspaces and Flow

There are 5 general areas in a kitchen:

  • Pantry area for food storage space, canned goods, and refrigerator
  • Storage area for appliances, utensils, and cookware
  • Sink area and cleaning area
  • Preparation area is ideally a large counter space to work on
  • Cooking area for stove and oven

These areas are permanently combined and related to the process of preparing a meal in the most efficient way possible. The sink, preparation and cooking areas offer a narrow triangular work area.

Types of Kitchen

There are basically 3 types of Kitchen Design and Build in London. Based on space they are categorized as linear, L-shaped, and U-shaped. These configurations give a balanced shape to the building. They also avoid crossing movements while working in the kitchen.

Modulation

This is yet another important thing for the right design and development of the floor plans of a kitchen. The floor plan must be directly related to the upper areas of the room, and appliances should match the modulation. These modulations are of 3 types i.e. Lower Module, Upper Module, and Tower Module. Rightly designed modulation avoids problems and proper placing of appliances. All the appliances should fit in a single module instead of two different modules.

Symmetry

It is one of the biggest mistakes done in designing processes such as; while designing a base cabinet, architects tend to draw vertical lines to indicate a separation of a module and its doors. But, it is essential to understand that it will be easier to install the cabinets if you repeat the exact measurement of the module.

Besides, some other things to consider for Kitchen Design and Build in London are; dimension, hardware available, and width. The standard width of a module are variable and depend on the use which is usually 30cm to 100cm.
