Job responsibilities:

Maintaining stock: One of the prime job responsibilities of the locum dispenser is to maintain the stock and inventory of the drugs. The locum pharmacists are closely associated with the main pharmacists and should know the status of the stocks available in the store. The locum pharmacist should also have the contact number of the distributors and C&F agents so that in any emergency situation they can immediately contact the stockiest and ask for the availability of the required drugs. It is very important for the locum pharmacist to know the exact levels of the stocks in the pharmacy store.

 Knowledge about the drugs: The locum pharmacists usually have to work in the absence of the main medical pharmacists and therefore it is very important that they should know everything about the drugs. Usually, the locum pharmacists are the main pharmacists in some stores and they possess good knowledge about the different kinds of drugs, molecule combinations and they are also able to read the doctor’s prescription of the patients.

Qualified and certified: The Locum pharmacists always need to be qualified and certified and should have a valid degree from any reputed college or medical university. The locum pharmacists should have the degree equivalent to the degree that required for completing the pharmacy courses. Some of the pharmacists also obtain the diploma in the pharmacy and that will be also enough to be a locum pharmacist.

License holder: A locum pharmacist can only be the person that holds the pharmacy license. It is one of the mandatory guidelines issued by the medical authority and respective medical bar association. Having a valid license and registration is the first condition of becoming locum pharmacists. Though, the locum pharmacist license is no different from the license of the other pharmacists. The validity of the license is always a concern, and the locum pharmacists needs to make sure that they are having the valid license otherwise they are not authorized in the pharmacy store.
