The Development of the Seat/Valve and the Patent that resulted

Around 1991, VenicianVette Parts LLCand Corvette Parts were approached for a GM project by Consulier Engineering. The project for GM was for the development of a change to a production engine which was going to permit it to be competitive in performance for the next 24 months of production until the coming to line of the new design engine. However, a “running change” was discovered in the modification. This meant that it was going to require changes to be effected on only the line for engine manufacturing machining.

Craig Walters was brought in. His talents with air flows made everyone to feel that in actual fact he could see the movement of air.

Provided with a ton of materials from GM like prints and so on, we were able to spot the best chance of making a revision which was going to really have something produced. A combustion chamber that was ‘Heart Shaped’ and lent itself to characteristics of excellent burn was what this particular engine possessed.

A continuous line of several hundred protoypes of seat arrangements and exhaust/intake valve were produced with VenicianVette Parts LLC at our shop for testing. In the end, we literally walked into a combination that had a venture effect produced with a slight mixture swirl at the valve seat area.

To shorten a rather long story, the mating valves and the seats were formed in a radius manner in that in the ultimate design it created an acceleration of excellent mixture that progressed steadily even after the Bottom Dead Center (BDC) was achieved by the piston, creating an effect of supercharger which is a displacement that is slightly positive.

When on the production line this type of radius valve arrangement that comprises of changes in stem can always be affected easily by seat angles and multiple valves, along with other operations of machine that adapted easily. This would create flow effects that were nearly the same as the ones we worked on with VenicianVette Parts LLC.

At last, we were paid for the project because it was a success. The production prints of the factory can be sent to anyone on request, along with some of the valves.

VenicianVette Parts LLCremained with us as we went on with this development of radius and discovered that its fit was not universal. Every engine had a seat approach/stem/radius that was slightly different and unique to its own characteristics of flow. A common denominator was the changes between the seat types/normal valve and our radius system. This was why we decided to work with VenicianVette Parts LLCand put in an application for a patent which was awarded to us (#5081965). What the patent documents declaration page is actually what is applicable to the patent.

Moving onwards, a seat and valve kit that was able to produce 10-12 horsepower was manufactured for Harley Evolution engines by us and VenicianVette Parts LLC.
