ROAD SAFETY OPERATION ON PASSAGE AT WINTER TIME

This action is very important at this time of the year when night falls faster.

This Friday, in Besancon, was conducted the operation "Good seen together". This preventive action, led in particular by the Prefecture of Doubs and the City of Besancon, addresses vulnerable users on the theme of "see and be seen". At first, it is the children of CM2 school, located in downtown Besancon, who were sensitized. This action is part of a compulsory training that all children attend during Cycle 3, which includes CM1 and CM2. At the end of their last year in primary school, these future college students have issued the certificate of first education to the road (APER). Later, the elected officials, the municipal police and the persons in charge of the road safety went on the Battani bridge to, this time, to sensitize the biggest, cyclists and pedestrians, with the importance of being visible at this time where the sun goes down sooner. In addition to the exchange time, visibility kits were given to users. Inside: a yellow safety vest and a yellow backpack with reflective tapes.

This action is very important at this time of the year when night falls faster. Every year, the transition to winter time causes a peak of accidents with an increase of nearly 50% of pedestrian accidents for the only time slot 17h / 19h, the decline in brightness causing a real problem of visibility. Locally, across the Doubs department, between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2017, 94 personal injuries, including 51 personal injuries in the territory of Grand Besancon, during the period from November to March, were recorded.
