Acne is a common condition of the skin. About 80 to 90 percent of people have ever suffered from acne. Usually the skin condition occurs in young people, especially teenagers. Many people are ashamed of pimples and feel uncomfortable with it. Nevertheless, one can practice some treatments to combat acne without medication.

What is acne and how does it occur?

Acne is a skin condition that occurs from excessive production of sebum. The sebaceous glands that produce this sebum get clogged as a result of which blackheads develop on the skin. In the blocked sebaceous glands there is a bacterium that develops substances that cause our body to show signs of inflammation. The inflammatory symptoms can be shown in the form of red nodules.

Acne mainly occurs on the shoulders, arms, neck and face. It is known that acne is much more intense in men than in women. This is because male hormones stimulate the excessive production of sebum.

The causes of acne

Some substances can cause the pores to become clogged. This allows the sebum to accumulate, causing acne. Some of these substances are:

Oil
Tar
Chlorinated substances that are found in paint, varnish
Long-term and frequent use of cosmetic products

Apart from bad substances for the skin, there are other risk factors that help to cause acne on the skin. For example, people are more likely to develop acne if:

Parents or grandparents have suffered from acne (heritable transferable)
The sebaceous glands produce excessive sebum
Some medicines are taken
One frequently sweats
People often find themselves in a warm but humid environment

What can you do about it?
There are various ways to combat acne. There are lots of different salves, creams and pills on the market to fight acne, but only a few of these have a good result.

Below are some tips you can do yourself if you suffer from acne:

1. Cleansing the skin helps most people. Note that these cleansers can also give rise to irritation of the sebaceous glands causing the acne to become even more intense.

2. A non-exaggerated amount of sunlight has positive effects on acne.

3. Avoid foods such as chocolate, french fries and other high-fat foods.

4. Antioxidants generally help against acne. These are mainly found in certain vegetables and green tea.

5. The squeezing of pimples is definitely not recommended. The skin can be damaged and the squeezing of pimples causes bacteria to be released that can cause the sebaceous glands to become inflamed.

6. Besides the use of medical products one can also opt for treating acne by means of natural products.

However, you should use dried orange peels during the treatment. These dry orange peels must be ground into powder and mixed with water. The formed paste is applied to the skin for fifteen minutes and then washed with warm water. This is repeated daily until you see an improvement (this is usually visible within one week).

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is not only good for cleaning the teeth, but also contains elements that ensure that formed pimples dry out faster. As a result, the bacteria that are in the pimples are not released on the skin so that the acne will spread less quickly. Simply apply a small amount of paste to the skin to be treated and let it work in for one night. In the morning you were the toothpaste of the skin with lukewarm water. This should be repeated for three days for a good result.

Lemon juice

The acidic property of lemons can be very useful in treating acne. Lemon juice has the characteristic that it cleans the pores so that a blockage will occur less quickly. Before treatment, the juice should be applied to the area to be treated for several days (about 3-4 days). After a few minutes (about 2-3 minutes), the lemon juice is washed off the skin. It is important not to apply the lemon juice to the skin for a long time, as long as it can dry out the skin. If you notice that the skin is drying out, you can switch to a treatment every two days instead of a daily treatment.
