Gender equality is a key issue across the globe but it is a burning topic in India. According to 2011 census, there were 933 females to that of 1000 males. The female literacy level according to the 2011 census was 65.46% where the male literacy rate was over 80%. There is a huge gap between males and females when it comes to nutrition, literacy and employment. Since ancient period, women has been neglected and marginalized by men and it still continues. In every sphere of life, girls or women are given less importance and the worst part is that they have to face domestic violence and sexual abuse daily.

Women empowerment in India has been a most talked about subject but the ground reality is that nothing concrete has been done on the ground level. The gender based discrimination is a deep rooted social malice practiced in India in many forms since ages. Today, our constitution provides equal rights to both men and women but the hard fact is that the laws and policies are not enough to empower women. There is need to address the malice of gender discrimination, abuses and injustices meted out to women. On the other hand, backward classes have also been neglected and marginalized by powerful people. If we look into the history, people from backward castes had a tough time as they were treated badly by the dominant castes. People from backward classes had small patches of land and many of them did petty jobs and some worked as laborers in the fields of landlords. Things improved after independence.  By giving them reservation in jobs, the government has tried to empower them but many backward castes are yet to taste the fruits of development.

There are many NGOs and Foundations working for women empowerment and empowerment of backward classes in India. Among all foundations, Ramnika Foundation has emerged as the best foundation in India for women empowerment and also best foundation in Delhi for backward classes. Since inception in 1995, Ramnika Foundation has been working for the welfare and upliftment of the Dalits, Tribals, women, minorities and other neglected and oppressed sections with utmost dedication, honesty and commitment. This popular foundation has carved a unique niche for itself across the length and breadth of our country for providing platform to creative people, women writers and also writers from the backward classes to highlight the plight of women, dalits, tribals, backward classes and minorities and also suggest ways to empower them and lead a life of dignity. This trusted foundation has earned laurels for fighting against social injustices and also achieve equality for all sections of society. Yuddhrat Aam Admi is one of the popular Hindi magazines of this noted organization that was started in 1986 from Hazaribagh in Bihar to provide a great platform to women, people from backward class and other sections of society to narrate the abuses and injustices that they face in daily life. They get a chance to publish their works and also let the world know about their struggles, upliftment and also how they are spreading wings with the help of this reputed foundation.
