Driftwood must be heavier than the water it dislodges. Archimedes said all that needed to be said… "any article drenched in water has it's weight decreased by the heaviness of the water it uproots"

All the more basically… have you at any point asked why a 10,000 ton war vessel can drift? The reason is Archimedes revelation… the ship coasts since it's exceptionally measure dislodges a greater number of huge amounts of water than the ship gauges. That makes it "light" and along these lines lighter than the water it is resting in. The outcome is… it skims!

Back to your inquiry… the driftwood must be either held submerged until the point that it is totally immersed, or you need to put loads inside it to make it heavier than the water is it submerged in. This would require boring a few gaps and putting lead angling loads in it to expand it's general weight.

Submergence will require some persistence, contingent upon what wood the driftwood is made of. A few woods are more permeable than others and accordingly drench up water quicker than a few hardwoods. Inevitably it will sink and remain down. Adding load to it will make this occur a lot quicker.
