Bangalore: More than a City of Gardens

Bangalore or Bangalooru, as originally named was founded by the Vijayanagar Chieftan, Kempe Gowda in the early 16th century. This city was a fort of modest dimensions and mud would be the primary material to build and construct. For the longest, Bangalore – India’s 5th largest city, is known for its gardens and the scenic beauty that it offers its citizens.

However, over the years, Bangalore has emerged as an active city of Karnataka. It has been home to new businesses and start-up. Education is another aspect that is booming in this city. With time, real estate has flourished and luxurious hotels in Bangalore have made their way in. Few of the country’s well-known five star hotels are in Bangalore. We take a closer look at them all below:

Business and commerce:

Post the IT revolution, Bengaluru as a state has emerged a leader information and technology centre and has received international recognition and acclamation for the same, as well. But, in the recent past Bangalore has blossomed into much more than just an IT leader. The city is now home to machine tools, construction machinery industry, aerospace, electronics, garments and a significant automotive hub in India. The record shows that Bangalore has produced 60% of the machine tools of India and with that has successfully emerged as the second highest producer of special purpose and heavy electrical machinery, contributes second highest to aerospace exports from India and accounts for 20% of the national garments production. The city has played a pivotal role in adding significantly to the GPR (Government process re-engineering) by developing a single window agency, facilitation services.

Education:

The much celebrated Bangalore University was established in 1886. It is known to provide affiliation to over 500 colleges across the city and others too. With a total student enrolment exceeding 300,000, Bangalore certainly rises up in the educational and academic sector, as well. The university comprises two campuses within Bangalore – the Jnanabharathi and Central College. The University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering was the first engineering institution and was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Today, this is the sole engineering university to be affiliated with the Bangalore University. And it doesn’t end here, the city is also home to many private Engineering Colleges affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. School and Degree College have staff and educational amenities that are equivalent to the international standards.

Accommodation & real estate:

In the recent past, Bengaluru has also emerged as the leader in south India’s real estate sector. The real estate demand and supply observed in this city is higher than Hyderabad and Chennai, put together. This has given the micro markets to flourished and now hold multiple options in this segment. Areas such as Whitefield, Outer Ring Road, Sarjapur Road, and Electronic City, and few locations in North Bengaluru have seen a real estate boom, in the recent past. The concept of affordable housing is fast catching up in many parts of this city. The suburbs of Hosur Road and Mysore Road are mainly influenced by this concept.
