An Umrah in Ramadan Offers Pilgrims Many Spiritual Benefits

The holy month of Ramadan requires all Muslims to observe fast from dawn until sunset. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and commemorates that important moment in the history of Islam when the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The word 'Ramadan is derived from the Arabic words 'Ramida' or 'ar-Ramad', which means 'dryness' or 'scorching heat'. Although it is an obligation for all the adult Muslims to observe the fast, there are certain individuals who can be exempted from it. They include pregnant women, the sick, women who need to breastfeed their infant children, those who are on travel, the chronically ill, menstruating women, and the elderly.

In recent times, the Ramadan Umrah packages allow Muslims to accomplish the 'lesser pilgrimage' in the holy month. The significance of this pilgrimage can be understood from the narration given by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). His narration states that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once asked a woman who was a resident of Madinah the reason for not performing Hajj. In her reply, she said that her husband had gone on the pilgrimage with one of their two camels and she needed the second one to irrigate their land. The prophet (peace be upon him), upon hearing this, told her that an Umrah performed in the month of Ramadan was just like performing the Hajj with him.

Many of the Muslims residing in the United Kingdom perform an Umrah in Ramadan to reap the spiritual benefits associated with it. This is made possible with the packages that are offered by the country's tour operators or travel companies for this month. As a result of the number of bookings made for this month, the cost of such packages increases to a considerable extent, which makes it quite expensive for many to get the desired packages for the holy month. This can be avoided by booking any of such packages well in advance.

The opportunities for Umrah Ramadan month brings for UK Muslims in the form of various packages not only help them in choosing the desired package but also allow them to book a suitable one after considering their overall budget. Some of the Muslims living in the UK prefer high-end packages that provide accommodations in the elegant 5-star hotels of Makkah that are located close to the Masjid al-Haram. This not only makes their stay comfortable but also gives them great convenience in getting to the holy mosque and performing the associated rituals with complete peace of mind.

It is necessary for the prospective pilgrims to be cautious before choosing a tour operator or travel company for booking their package. Over the past few years, many travel companies have come up in several parts of the UK. Not all of them may be completely reliable. Booking with a tour operator or travel company that is authorised by the Hajj Ministry of Saudi Arabia and registered with ATOL is always recommended as such companies are the ones that can be trusted the most.
