Multi-Style Yoga Teacher Training At Mahi Yoga

The ancient practice of yoga has many branches and styles. One who wishes to pursue this practice can choose to focus on just one type or can gain a holistic knowledge of different styles of yoga in order to reap the maximum benefit. This is exactly what our multi-style yoga teacher training classes in India aim to do.

Set in ethereal locations like Dharamshala, Goa, and Rishikesh, our classes aim to combine Vedic knowledge of yesteryear with modern science and teaching techniques in order to enable students to be fully confident in their training. The training combines Hatha yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Vinyasa Yoga to cover both traditional and therapeutic aspects of practicing yoga. Coupled with the art of meditation, we offer options of 100-hour, 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training. The course offers an in-depth view of Hatha yoga’s physical practices, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and chanting of mantras. Aimed at balancing the practitioner’s body and mind, Hatha yoga is the root of most Western interpretations of yoga. Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is practiced in the style of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during the training. This style of yoga focuses on detoxification through dynamic heating through fixed sequences of poses that lead to more complex levels of practice. This serves to build flexibility and strength in the body. Vinyasa yoga, also known as flow yoga, is taught in the tradition of Guru T. Krishnamacharya. It focuses on the transition between poses controlled and guided by breathing. Slightly more fast-paced than its parent style Ashtanga Vinyasa, this style does not focus as much on the fixed sequence of poses.

Throughout the course, students are trained to asses poses therapeutically and adjust the same for injury or individual requirements. This is supported by detailed classes on the human anatomy and the effects of poses on the physical body and the energy level of the body. Knowledge of muscles, joints, and bones is covered in-depth so that the effect of different poses on the body is clearly understood. The knowledge of the physical body is complemented by engaging discussions in yoga philosophy. The course focuses on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Ashtanga Yoga, taught by experienced yogis with years of practice. Yoga philosophy is discussed in both a scientific and spiritual point of view.

In the end, this combined training will enable students to design a class based on an individual’s anatomy, alignment, and energy. But aside from a strong foundation in the subject itself, teaching the art of yoga requires clear communication and management skills. Students are trained expertly in how to instruct their students and explain poses clearly. The training includes the ethics and business of yoga, in order to enable students to set up their own practice. Overall, the training enables students to acquire a holistic view of yoga and equips them to share the knowledge with others as well.
