You can easily say that the musical is inspired by the 1982 American comedy film with the same name. But has changed a bit as the new era’s demand which makes sense as Dorothy running from a sexual harasser co-worker will definitely won’t do in a #Me Too era. Giving the musical a bit of a modern outlook was absolutely a wise choice.
Stiles on the other hand also had some really heart-wrenching moments in the musical and there was no doubt in her acting skills after he fulfills the hard physical comedy task. Having a pacey lyrics list while having a breakdown moment was nothing short of a challenge and Stiles rose to it. John Behlmann also carried out his character with a brilliant comedic performance. He plays the as Dorothy's charming, but foolish and muscular co-star who is falling for a woman he never had dreamt he could ever fall for.
Just like every other show the cast still needs to work on a few things but beside that the show can be the biggest hit of the Broadway history. The production was wise enough to add where it needs to be for presenting it according to the present era unlike other adaptation musicals. With just a few more changes here and there I’m sure TOOTSIE will no doubt win the heart of Broadway audiences. The show runs till 14th Oct at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, for Tootsie Musical Tickets visitTickets4musical.com.
