Middle East and Asia to Spearhead the Global Ammonia Capacity

From approximately 230 mtpa in the year 2017 to over 280 mtpa through 2026, the global ammonia capacity to experience a remarkable growth, owing to the increase in the usage of urea, ammonium phosphates, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate, and nitric acid. Asia and Middle East are expected to spearhead the global ammonia capacity by 2026 with the installation of over 100 planned & announced plants, which will be established to meet the rising demand for ammonium-based products. In Asia, India is expected to produce a total of 8.6 mtpa of capacity by leveraging 18 planned & announced plants. A large portion of India’s surging fertilizer demand will be met by the major capacity contributions from Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., and Nagarjuna Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. Within Middle East & Africa, Iran is anticipated to add total capacity - 8.4 mtpa through 2026. Additionally, in Nigeria, approximately 6.6 mtpa worth of capacity is expected and Dangote Industries Ltd., to contribute majorly to the regional fertilizer demand.
