Doormats - Feature, Types and Natural Materials

Door mat serves to strip the shoes in front of the front door to keep the interior clean. However, the door mat is often given too little attention; too loveless is often the choice. You should keep in mind that the doormat is located directly in your entrance area, thus significantly contributing to the first impression that the visitor receives from your house or apartment.

Floor mats: features and function:

Barrier mats are a small mat that usually lies in front of an entrance door to strip off the shoes. In this way, they can be cleaned of coarse dirt, which keeps the entrance area of the house or apartment clean.

The EVA foam mats can be used both indoors and outdoors; the former, for example, in the stairwell of an apartment building or in a public building in front of the respective departmental doors.

Most models are rectangular. Meanwhile, the range of floor mats but very diverse, so you can find, for example, half or full round mats.

As far as forms are concerned, floor mats can also be made up of innumerable designs, colors, and materials. The latter include about

•    coir
•    plastic
•    sisal
•    Palm leaves
•    rubber
•    Rubber as well
•    Metal (aluminum, stainless steel).

When choosing one must pay particular attention to the place of use: not every material is suitable, for example, for use outside.

Among the common sizes, for example, the format 30 x 50 centimeters. The height amounts to approximately one to two centimeters. There are very cheap mats that are even thinner and designed for the more frequent change, as well as those with which to get by for several years.

Floor mats made of natural materials:

Floor mats made of natural materials are still very much in vogue. When choosing a suitable door mat, however, it should be differentiated whether the mat is in front of a house in the open air or, for example, in front of a flat in a hallway, or if you want to lay out the doormat in the inner entrance area of your apartment.

Characteristics:

Natural materials usually have a good look. But they should not be exposed to too strong environmental influences. The most commonly used natural materials are either thick animal bristles or strong natural fibers from the most diverse, mostly tropical plants. Both tolerate moisture to a degree.
