Proms are the much-anticipated vent of the year and for all the right reasons. The glitz, glam, fun, festivity, dance, music and so much more calls for everyone to pull off their best possible looks. That also explains why teen girls are always so nervous about their prom looks. Everyone wants to win their hearts and be labeled as the ultimate prom queen, but that is surely not an easy job. Unlike men, girls cannot simply put up and nice tuxedo and walk the carpet. They have to focus on so many things at the same time to make sure everything falls in place with just the right balance. If you are already in a nail-biting situation with your next prom look, here is a quick guide to help yo9u figure out your look.

Your Dress

Your prom look will have a lot of different things to be taken care of but everything will be eventually be driven by your dress, so you need to focus on this one the most. Also, your dress is going to be the most expensive investment of your entire look so you need to be careful with this one. Start early to do your research and see what kind of styles are in trend. You can also check online stores such as JJ’s House for different styles of prom dresses that are available. Try to understand what kind of style will work for your body type. For example, if you are skinny, you can opt for mermaid or fit and flare cuts. Bulkier or plus-sized girls can rock A-line flared or draped styles. When choosing your dress, make sure you get the right fit and you have something that you can carry with confidence.

Shoes

Once your dress is sorted pick a pair of shoes. If you are too tall or have issues walking with very high heels, opt for kitten heels or low-height wedges or platforms. If your dress is long enough to keep your shoes hidden, you can save up on this part by ditching the bling and opt for plain closed toe pair.

Accessories

The kind of accessories that you pick should depend on your dress. If your dress is too blingy and is something that should attract all the attention, go easy on your jewelry and it would be a good idea to stay minimalistic. If you have an off-shoulder dress, you may add a necklace but consider going bare neck if you have a high-collared neckline. Wear heavier earrings only if you are not wearing any jewelry in your neck and your make up is nude. Keep your ears light if you are wearing a heavy neckpiece or opting for a bold makeup look.

Hair & Makeup

Your hairdo should be in line with your dress and your facial features. Opt for a style that adds oomph to your look. If your hair cannot take humidity or avoid frizz, consider tying them up in a bun. If your dress is towards the plain side and does not have a lot of detailing, you may consider bolder makeup looks. Do not wear bold lip colors if your dress is already too heavy on the eyes. Stick to less is more to make your style statement. Bold makeup looks are only recommended where your dress and jewelry are on the minimalistic side so makeup can cover it up for the glam.
