4 Signs Your Nanny Isn't the Right Fit

Posted by ochomefamily on February 7th, 2019

Hiring a nanny takes a great deal of trust, as you are inviting a stranger into your home and allowing him or her to care for your children. And while you would hope that the person you've invited into your home will be the perfect fit from day one, that is not always the case. If you're uncertain about whether or not your current nanny is truly the right fit for you and your family, ask yourself if any of the below signs apply to you.

Frequent Scheduling Conflicts

You need to be able to rely on your nanny to be there when you need her. And while you can't expect her to be available at the drop of a hat, you should be able to have her with your children on a fairly regular schedule. If you find that your nanny is frequently cancelling, requesting days off, or is just generally unavailable when you need her, it may be best to find someone who can work better with your schedule and your needs.

Undermining Your Authority

Whether your nanny is only with your kids a few hours a week, or he is a live-in nanny who is present at all times, you and your spouse should always be the primary authorities in the household. A nanny should never undermine or override your authority as a parent. If you feel like your nanny doesn't respect your authority, or just isn't on the same page regarding how your children should be cared for, then it is definitely time to find a replacement.

Conflicting Styles of Discipline

Just as every parent has a different parenting style, nannies can have different styles of caring for children as well. While a nanny should always adapt to your household's style of discipline, sometimes, natural tendencies can still rise to the service. If you feel like your nanny is not strict enough with your children, or that she disciplines them too frequently, you can try talking through your differences and asking her to follow your preferences for how your children are raised. If the differences just can't be consolidated, then you might want to find a new nanny in Orange County.

Unhappy Children

Your children don't have to absolutely adore their nanny at every hour of the day. Just as they may get upset with you at times, they can be upset with their nanny as well. But if your children just don't seem to like being around your nanny for some reason, then it's time consider finding a replacement who works better with your children's personalities.

If your nanny just isn't working out for some reason, don't hesitate to look for a new nanny in Orange County. Odds are, doing so is the best choice for your family.
