As you plan for a move, you may be shocked by the large number of people you want to make contact with. Not only do you want to make contact with companies and organizations in the area where you at present live, there are also many people you will need to get in contact with at the location where you are moving to. In order to ensure a smooth transition from your old home to your new one, it is a good idea to make a list of the businesses and organizations you will need to contact so you don’t forget about any of them.

Your Moving Company

Of course, if you are going to enlist in the help of Melbourne Removalists, you will need to get in touch with a few companies in order to find the one that is right for. You will need to do some research so you can be certain the moving company you select is reputable, which will require you to make a few additional phone calls. If you are going to do the moving on your own, you will still need to contact a moving truck company so you can make arrangements for a truck on moving day. It is important to contact these companies as soon as possible. That way, you can be certain to get the moving company or truck on the days you need them.

Your Utility Companies

A couple weeks before your moving day, you will need to get in touch with your utility companies.  These include:

  • Electric Company
  • Gas Company
  • Cable or Satellite Service
  • Refuse Pickup
  • Water Company
  • Internet

By this time, you should know the specific day on which you will need the utilities to e shut off. At the same time, you should know when you need your utilities to be turned on at your new home. Therefore, you will need to contact these companies in order to get your utilities turned on at your new town.

Your Health Care Professionals

You will also need to get in touch with all of your health care professionals. These include:

  • Dentist
  • Eye Doctor
  • Veterinarian
  • Specialists

When calling these professionals, notify them of your move and ask them to transfer your records and provide referrals.

Your Children’s Schools

In order to transfer your children to their new schools, you will need to visit the current school and notify them of the move. Your old school will request information regarding the new school so they can transfer your records. When enrolling in your new school, you will need to provide the school with the old school’s information so they can request the transfer information. Start working on the transfer of school records before you move so your child can enroll in school right away.

Your Service Companies

If you have any professional services, such as a lawn care service, you will need to contact these providers and have the services terminated. Depending upon the service and the company, you may be able to transfer the services to your new home. If you have security services or cleaning services, for example, the company may provide services in the area where you will be moving.

Your Insurance

You will also need to contact your homeowner’s insurance company and request new coverage for your new home. If you are moving to a new country, district, or state, you will also need to get new car insurance coverage.

By making all of these phone calls, you can be certain you have successfully tied up all of the loose ends at your current home and you will be ready for a new start at your new home.
