Rameshwaram is a historic, cultural and pilgrim place in Tamil Nadu. It has one of the rear sites, which anyone must visit once in a lifetime. It has a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a few sites, which are recommended for its recognition under cultural heritage. The best season to visit Rameshwaram is from August to March. The October and November are rainy season and this place looks much exotic. It is a tourist-friendly place. Its coordinates are 9.288° North and 79.313° east.

The best time to visit Rameshwaram is from December to March. Tamil Nadu is a hot place during the summer season (April to August).

1.       Adam's Bridge

You must reach Dhanushkodi to see this man-made sea marvel, which is an ancient bridge connecting Dhanushkodi to Sri Lanka. You can see this submerged bridge from the flight. It has legends from Ramayana that Lord Rama built this bridge to reach Sri Lanka to release her wife Sita from the Lankeshwar. This is an iconic landmark, which is also visible through satellite image.  

2.       Agni Tirtham

This is a picturesque beach and a holly place to visit once in Rameshwaram trip. The Hindu people take a dip from this seawater before entering the Rameshwaram Temple. This is a holy sea and taking a dip will cleanse away your sin is the local belief. This is a sunrise point too on the Bay of Bengal Sea. You can find many pilgrims doing rituals on the seashore.

3.       Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple

This is an ancient temple, which you must visit once in your Rameshwaram tour. It has legends from Ramayana. There are records from the Pandyas and the Jaffna Kingdom has renovated this temple since the ancient era. This is an important pilgrim place for the Shaivites. You must visit this temple to see its Dravidian architectural marvel.

4.       Holy Island Water Sports

You must visit here from March to September to enjoy water rides like kayaking, snorkeling, Jet Ski, and Scuba Diving. This is a summer retreat place in Tamil Nadu. Its seawater is shallow and looks blue color. It has a children-friendly area in this water park. It is the best place to relax in the beach too. During the weekends, this place is filled with locals.

5.       Pamban Bridge

This is an iconic railway bridge, which connects the Rameshwaram mainland to Pamban Island. This is a more than a century old, India’s 1st Sea Bridge, which is still in good condition. It will be a breathtaking and a scenic rail route to travel over the seawater. It was a bascule bridge too. Now, there is a parallel road bridge too to connecting to Pamban Island. It is advisable to travel by train to see this attraction. You can also try by road while returning as a scenic sea drive of Tamil Nadu.

6.       Rameshwaram Lighthouse

It is the best sea beach place to visit once in Rameshwaram vacation. Its white sandy beach is the best place to take a sunbath and do Surya Namaskar during sunrise. You can reach the top of this lighthouse and sea the 360-degree view of this coastal front mainland and the islands.

7.       Ramar Patham

It has legends from the Ramayana. You can see Lord Rama's footprint on a stone, which is preserved since the Vedic Era. You must reach this hilltop temple in Kendhamana Parvatham. You can view a 360-degree f this scenic village of Rameshwaram from this temple top.

8.       Sangumal Beach

This is a scenic beachside in Rameshwaram. You can go biking, boating, and hike on its full stretch on the beach. This is a sunrise beach, which is the best location for photography.

9.       Villoondi Theertham

You must reach Thangachimadam to see this attraction. This is a temple site too. This is a pond, which has legends from the Epic Saga he Ramayana. This pond emerged out of the arrow of Lord Rama to meet the drinking water needs for its soldiers during the Lankan war with Lankeshwar in the Vedic time. This pond water tastes sweet is the local’s belief.

10.   Water Bird Sanctuary

The bird lovers and naturalist must visit this place from October to December. You can watch many seabirds and territorial birds in this sanctuary. This is the best place to hike and take postcard size photos of the colorful birds in their natural state.
