Having family photos taken is far from easy, especially if you have kids that also need to be captured into the photographs. Kids have no patience whatsoever to pose nicely and hold their expressions for the camera that is in front of them. You can’t force them to smile for the camera because they will do exactly the opposite of that. Here are some tips to help you prepare your little buttons for the next family photography session that’s on your mind:

1. Ensure they are well fed and rested- Hungry and tired kids are the most difficult to handle. You must not plan a lot of physical activities on the same day as your photography shoot. Your photo session should be your main event. Taking them on a hike or to a soccer game right before the photo shoot isn’t a good idea since it will tire them. Make sure their stomachs are full so they are not in a bad mood during the photo session. Hungry kids are the most difficult to deal with.

2. Show your kids some past family photos- Kids love to see photos of themselves. When you show them the past family photographs, it will make them more excited for the photo shoot ahead of them. That way, they will take the shoot more seriously since they would want more good pictures of them. This is one of the sure-fire techniques known to encourage children for a family photograph.

3. Be upfront with your children- You must tell your little ones what will happen at the shoot and what to expect. You can let them know that you would be going to a beach or fun park (or a venue that you’ve decided for your photo session) where you will play and a friend would be taking your photographs for which he would be asking you guys to stand or sit in different ways. This will clear out their doubts and make them comfortable for the photo session that is ahead of them.

4. A little reward will go a long way- You can tell your kids that you would take them out for desserts or shakes or burgers or something that they really like after the photo session is over. Trust me, this will work wonders with them.
