Different Models of Odroid

Odroid or open Android was developed to complement the functioning of Raspberry Pi. The first model of odroid appeared in the market in the year 2009. Odroid can be used for a variety of projects including multimedia storage and simple home automation.

The variety is so high in odroid that you can find something for all types of projects and that’s the best part about it. So, let’s have a look at the different models of odroid to make the best choice when you purchase one.

Odroid C0

Odroid C0 model can be easily sewn with fabric and is best for small projects with the least power. The CPU of C0 is quad-core and 1.5 GHz. It also has one gigabyte of DDR3 SDRAM. The odroid C0 comes with a number of input/output interfaces, Odroid Xu4 Case, infrared interfaces, and has a battery power cut too. It is very small and saves a lot of space.

Odroid C1+

The price of odroid C1+ is a bit higher than C0, but it's definitely worth the price when it comes to features. In addition to what C0 holds, Odroid C1+ also has some full-size USB slots and an eternal gigabit port. The functionality of both of them is nearly the same. Only the power and space saving reductions are different for both models.

Odroid C2

The extension of C1+ was called odroid C2 and has an ARM Cortex-A53 quad-core processor. The model also comes with a RAM of 2 GB and HDMI 2.0 cable. The model can run even media centers, and the best part is auto heat dissipation even when workloads are higher. However, for protection don’t forget to buy the Odroid C2 casealong with the device.

Odroid HC1

HC1 stands for “Home Cloud One”. This model is best as a media server based at home cloud plus has an internal heat sink. The model has got octa-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor. HC1 also has 2 GB Ram and is best to for all your media needs. You get a good quality device, but a good quality case would be better for safety.

Odroid HC2

The improvements in the HC1 brought HC2 to light, and it costs nearly 40% more than the previous model. However, when it comes to performance, you can't expect an increase of 40%. The heat dissipating system is more extensive in this case and the size of drives that was sufficient in the previous model too. You run a file server, Apache, Docker, and WordPress.

Odroid XU4

Just like most of the models of odroid the processor is ARM Raspberry Pi Metal Case and 2 GB Ram. The addition to this model was a cooling fan to prevent heating effect at the time of larger workload. The model is highly appreciable according to price. We suggest you buy an Odroid XU4 case along with the device to prevent damage.

Odroid XU4Q

Odroid XU4Q model is a reduction of performance in the previous model. The cooling fan was replaced with only a heat sink. To protect the device, buy a solid case too.
