If you have finally decided to use a computer for school or university, then we leave you with a list of the best applications to take notes and do all kinds of work.

Microsoft Office

Dropbox is a well-known cloud storage service that you can access also from your mobile, tablet, etc. There you can save all your works, documents and notes taken with the laptop and always have them available.

As alternatives to Dropbox, you have Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud. All have a free plan that is usually more than enough for students.

Evernote

If you are taking notes very often to sign up for things to do, Evernote is an essential application for you. It is available for computer and mobile devices so you will always have all your annotations synchronized and up-to-date between devices.

Wolfram Alpha

WolframAlpha is an online platform that has mobile apps that will allow you to solve equations of all kinds (integrals, derivatives, linear equations, algebra, statistics, etc.) or even draw graphs.

If you are buying a laptop for students, save this page in the favorites because you will visit it very often in the case that you are preparing to engineer or go for the branch of science.

Trello

If you have to do some teamwork or you want to take your organization to the extreme, Trello is a perfect application for you. You can organize all the tasks by boards and establish different phases for each of them, so you will know at all times the state in which they are.

Applications have always reserved their significance, below we will throw some light on the importance of applications, portable application:

Portable applications

Most of the time, when we want to use an application, we have to install it. This process lasts a few minutes and creates a directory on the computer's hard drive where all the information related to the program that is needed to use it will be. Portable applications do not need to be installed,  you can simply run them and start using them immediately. All you have to do is download the file and save it somewhere.

The portable applications usually come within a compressed file, which contains everything necessary for it to work. Once all the files are extracted (which you can do from a portable device), it will be ready to be used. These files will be the equivalent to the directory that is created on the computer when any program is installed, but with the difference that once you stop using the application, you can close it and leave no trace of it on that computer.

Advantages of portable applications
They can be moved from computer to computer easily. It is only necessary to copy the folder with all the files of the application inside a pen drive and it will be enough to use it in any PC.
When you buy a new computer you can copy all the portable applications instead of installing them. This will save you a lot of time downloading, installing and configuring everything you use.
Although Windows has improved a lot in this section, if you do not do maintenance it will get slower and slower. This is caused by many reasons and one of them is to install many programs that "contaminate" the system in several ways. Portable applications avoid all this.
If you have almost no capacity on your computer's hard drive, it's a good idea to use portable applications on a removable device.
If you have to work on a computer that is not yours and you need certain programs, taking them in a portable way is a great solution because you will not spend hours installing everything, and you will also leave the PC clean as if no one had used it.
If you get a protected computer, where you do not have administrator permissions to install applications, the portables will work wonders.
Disadvantages of portable applications
Not all programs are available in a portable version.
Sometimes portable applications do not have all the features that normal versions have.
Some portable programs leave traces in the temporary file folder. This does not have to be a problem really, but if you are a user who cares about privacy, it should be considered.
