3 Ways to Give Back to the Society

Posted by pooja late on February 28th, 2019

When you land your first job, you feel really good about yourself. There is something truly ecstatic about being able to do your bit and give back to the society. Companies therefore have corporate social responsibility in India. It helps them remember to do their bit for the general welfare of the world. After all, this is the world that we would be leaving to our future generations.

There are NGOs in India who have tied up with companies to help them with their CSR activations. As an individual, you can do your bit by doing one of the following things:

Sponsor a girl child’s education

As discussed in several articles, the position of the girl child in India is not too great. You could alter the course of a young girl’s life by just sparing a few thousand rupees per year! If you really think about it – it isn’t too much to ask. After all, the only thing that separates us from being that girl was our luck that we were born into the families that we belong to now. Their lives could have just as easily been ours. This is a good chance to be the person who this little girl needs to in order to better her odds at winning in life.

Volunteer in a NGO

If you are still a student or struggling to ends meet yourself, one of the things you could do is volunteer at an NGO. It is a good way to invest your time and energy into a better cause. You get to be a part of an incredible change. It feels really good to have been the person who took responsibility and took out the time to be there for the girl child who really needed a friend. Initially it might not feel that great but if you stick to it, volunteering is one of the most rewarding things in life.

Host a fundraiser

If you are pressed for time for volunteering then one of the things you can do is host a fundraiser. You can get various people on board with the articles they can auction of. Besides that, you can you organise a bake sale or sell other interesting things like handmade cards and candles, and use the funds from the sale for the charities you choose to represent. Fundraisers are a great way to give back to the society. It is only a matter of a few hours. Although organising it might take up some time.

In the end, it does not matter how big or how little the effort you put into the work was. What truly matters is that you did your bit as part of your corporate social responsibility in India. Pairing up with a NGO in India to do so is just an added bonus. Do your bit to promote the education of the girl child by being more proactive. After all, the change you want to see in the world will only come when you start making changes at home.
