Asphalt Synchronous Chip Seal Technology

Asphalt synchronous chip seal technology, as a new road maintenance technology, it has been widely adopted in Europe and the United States. The technology originated from France in 80s and was spread to all European countries and the United States in 90s. France is located in Western Europe with land area of 550, 000 Km2. Now the length of its highways at all levels is around 1 million Km. Among these highways, the length of National Roads (highways) is about 36, 000 km; the length of local trunk line is about 360, 000 km; the length of rural and other low-grade highways is 600, 000 km. 

Asphalt synchronous chip seal technology is widely used in France and Europe, more than 95% of highways adopt this technology for maintenance. The French highway design period is generally 10 years. The base is mainly composed of water-bound macadam and the surface layer is mainly composed of hot asphaltic concrete. The thickness of the hot asphaltic concrete is above 25cm. After 10 years of normal operation of the pavement, the asphalt chip sealtechnology is used for mid-term maintenance. According to statistics from France's traffic administration, a pavement maintained by a asphalt synchronous chip seal technology can be used for more than 20 years. In addition, France can achieve a pavement pavement rate of 100%, mainly because they used asphalt synchronous chip seal technology directly to the pavements in more than 40% of the highways. So this technology contribute a lot to the asphalt chip sealer.
