As a brand, you must have created accounts and profiles for your brands or business on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You have certainly posted in those platforms, but so far you do not see any engagement. You must be wondering what you are doing wrong.

Well, the reason behind this is that your brand or business is not creating engaging content. You might have not used effective social media engagement and strategy or your present content does not match your targeted audience.

What you need is to do is create content that generates engagement with your brand. The following are some of the tips you need to follow—to create effective social media engagement.

ü  Define your audience and their interests

Matching your product to your targeted audience is actually what makes you visible on the internet. First, you have to define who your target audience is. Are they young people, men or female? What do they like? Where are they found? Put in mind people have different interests and likes. This is the persona of your audience. Therefore, find content that is relevant to your audience and their interests.

Relevant content is important to your target audience. Your audience may find a purpose for your product or may view your brand as part of their solution to their problems. Relevant content provides and satisfies the interests and needs of your audience.

Taking note note of the social networks demographics breakdown is crucial as it will help you to adjust your strategy.

ü  Always engage with your audience

Different social media platform have different algorithms. To increase the engagement rate you have to beat algorithms. One way to do it is to constantly engage with your audience through comments, shares or likes. Some of the social media managers tend to overlook this strategy, and some reply on an Instagram bot to make sure no follow, comment or like gets overlooked.

People always like being valued and appreciated. Acknowledge your audience through simple statements like “Thank You,” “Good Work” or “Will Get Back To You Soon.” Such gestures show your audience that you value them and appreciate them through their contribution. Responding to people will always generate engagement with your brand.

ü  Use Visual content

Visual content is friendlier to the eye than texts. Photos and videos are more likely to bring shares, comments, and likes than texts. Invest in posting quality, engaging and interesting visuals. This makes your newsfeed beautiful and engaging especially if you are using social posts that run in a visual social platform like Instagram and Pinterest.

Be creative when creating social posts for your social media updates. Visual content is more likely to go viral than any other content type due to the heaviness of the message it carries.

In case you are using images from Google, ensure you credit the users since some need permission and license to use them. There some of the sites that provide free images such as Unsplash and Pixabay. Therefore, don’t be limited in your private collection or Google search.

ü  Talk about the good old days with Nostalgia

In one way or another, we always want to remember the good old days or compare it with the present day. Brands should take this opportunity and share photos from the good old days with their audience. It can through photos from when they began, when a particular industry began or just a random photo. Tell a story from it and let your audience do the same. Ask them to share their experiences in relation to the picture—and let nostalgic stories generate engagement with your brand. Your audience will pour in shares, likes, and comments.

ü  Create content highlighting surveys, giveaways, and contests

To create content that is interactive and engaging; you will need to feature content that contains surveys, giveaways, Promos, and contests. Run an irresistible contest on your chosen social channel. Let your audience understand the rules and conditions of the challenge. You can post a survey and let your audience know that the completion of a survey will earn them a reward.  Ensure that it is interesting enough to attract your target audience.  At the end of your campaign, don’t get surprised by the good number of new subscribers and followers.

ü  Use captions

Perhaps your phone or computer contains photos from the internet or your private collection. Did you know that you can use some of them for your social media campaign? However, photos from the internet need permission or license to use them. Images carry emotions, and humans relate well with emotions. Select images that can provoke emotions and can generate engagement with your brand.

Choose ones that are thought provoking, funny and inspiring that can really drive engagement on your social media channels. Engage your audience by asking them to caption it and share it with their audience. Also, ask them to tag your brand or include your brand in the caption.

ü  Reward your audience for their engagement

Social media users are humans, and when you acknowledge them, they will feel appreciated and part of the brand. Your brand should reward the most active users due to their interactions and engagement with your brand. There are many ways of how you can reward them including giving out discounts code, random gifts, a paid eBook or free services or gifts from your business. You will have to decide on what basis why you are rewarding them—most shares, likes or comments.

News will spread that you reward people for their engagement and interactions with your brand. Many people will get interested thus not only increasing your engagement rates but also increase brand awareness.

ü  Use social media specialist

Lastly, you will need a social media specialist to create engaging content for you, when you need new ideas. Employ content creators who understand your brand and your audience and can deliver real-time value.  You can either hire their services for either a short-term or long-term period. The internet provides freelancers and virtual assistants that are skilled in creating content that will maximize social media engagement.  Identify someone who is not new to the field and offers affordable services.

Conclusion

Brands should understand they cannot be successful online in one night. A lot of effort is done online. Engagements and interaction contribute highly to your social media campaign. All you need to do is to create content that generates engagement with your brand.
