Whether you are fashioning a baby gate, tying your shoes, or loading a pickup truck, there are many clever ways you can use shock cord every day.

For the Home

Shock cord has a myriad of uses for the home. For kids, it can be used to create a lofted bed guard, shoe laces (no more tying), and fun bracelets. They can be strung through handles to baby proof drawers. If you have toys or items that like to roll off of shelves, bungee cords can keep them organized and in place.

They can be woven together to create fun seats, used to organize canning lids, and made into shoe organizers. Their elasticity and flexibility make them great choices when building accessory racks, tie holders, and more. In a pinch they can even make a quick substitution for a curtain rod.

For the Car

The usefulness of these cords doesn’t stop in the home, there are many ways you can utilize them in the car and traveling as well. Hang a bungee cord across the roof of the backseat and affix baby toys to create a fun activity center while you’re on the go. Sock cords can help hold strollers and other cumbersome items like pack and plays, out of the way so you can store more in your vehicle.

If you need to haul buckets in the back of your truck, stringing a shock cord through the handles is a great way to prevent them from rolling while you drive. This trick can work for grocery bags as well. They are great for securing tarps and keeping large cords coiled as well.

For the Garage

Bungee cords fashioned vertically can make a great storage system for sports balls in the garage. This way they are easy to view, access, and it prevents them from falling and rolling everywhere. They also make great yoga mat ties and bicycle panniers. Small cords can make temporary hanging paper towel holders that can be used while you are working on a project to save you time and energy.

Shock cord uses can extended to outdoor projects as well. They can hold bundles of sticks together, secure gardening tools, and more. If you are working with a large container or bucket and need to secure a bin liner, you can use bungee cords to hold it in place will you work. The possibilities are great, and shock cords are a great tool to have on hand.
