Wayne Lee Gay from Theater Jones labeled it as both “traditional and fresh”. He believes the musical has kept well with the 80s and 90s trends of Broadway. He described the songs quality to be extremely melodious and seamlessly delightful to hear. He further complimented the P. Jason Yarcho’s piano playing as well as the cast’s ability to deliver every single word to the audience clearly which is a rare case when it comes to Broadway musicals. He also described how the balance and the general sounds were the best he has heard in his life, some of the shifts in the rhythm of the musical made it more appealing to the ears.

Jared West from BroadwayWorld pronouncedNick Adams as Whizzer’s act “the standout performance of the evening”. He seemed particularly taken by Adams for providing a vulnerability to his character that was otherwise somewhat superficial and, at times, unlikeable. He specifically mentioned his number, "The Games I Play", which he described as “captivating and emotional”.

Arnold Wayne Jones from Dallas Voice describes the musical as “a joyous ride”. He explains that the ending was particularly an emotional blow and is probably the saddest moments in the musical yet the story is both funny as well as reflective. He mentioned the songs were “spot-on” starting from the opening number "Four Jews in a Room Bitching" to the heart-wrenching endings with songs like "Cancelling the Bar Mitzvah,"&  "What Would I Do?". Though he stated Jacobs as young Jason the highlight of the show he is of the opinion that the musical was endlessly beautiful.

Greer Anderson from The Odyssey believes that the technical and visual features of this show together with the implausible performances by the whole cast shaped a work of art filled with varying emotions that are sure to hit home to anyone in the audience. He further suggests to go watch it while you can and I absolutely agree with his suggestion and recommend buying Cheap Falsettos The Musical Chicago Tickets where the cast will be stopping next.
