Ph.D, an abbreviation for Doctor of Philosophy is a postgraduate doctoral program which a student can pursue after completing his/her masters. The qualifications of Ph.D are available in all the subjects and most importantly, it is considered as the highest level of academic degree a person can achieve.

First year after Ph.D Admission

In the first year of Ph.D admission, students have to meet their supervisor and discuss the plan based on the research proposal. As already mentioned above, the students have to carry out the literature review first of all with the guidance of the mentor. During the literature review, a Ph.D students have to start doing the survey and work on the evaluation of the existing scholarship as this will help them to situate their research work and make sure that the work done by them is indigenous. At the end of first year, the students are registered for MPhil degree and upgraded to Ph.D students. Second Year after Ph.D Admission

During the second year of Ph.D, students have to do the core research work which varies depending on the work but the main purpose will be to gather the results through experiments, survey, archival research etc. With the in-depth research, students have to write up chapters that will later on form part of the thesis. For writing up the dissertation, students have to meet their supervisor so that they can check your progress, give feedback on your ideas. Therefore, for the development of the student as a scholar, the second year is a most important phase as it also gives opportunity to present their work at academic conferences, obtaining experience of teaching and most importantly, choosing materials for publication in the academic journal.

Third Year after Ph.D Admission

The third year of Ph.D is considered as the writing up phase and is the final year of doctorate. During this, period of Ph.D, students have to compile all the result acquired after the research work and other materials to make proper dissertation for submitting it to the department. Post submitting the thesis, students have to appear for the viva voce oral exam wherein the formal discussion with at least one internal and external examiner will be done and the students have to defend their thesis. Once done with this round and passing in it, the students will complete their Ph.D.
