Decolored diamonds are rare to find!

The less the color, the more the value of diamond, and the colorless diamond is the most precious. Colored diamonds are not in the general color range; the rarest and most precious colors are saturated pink, blue and green. In every case, even very slight color differences can have a significant effect on value.

Compared to yellow and brown colored diamonds, diamonds with distinct other colors are more precious and rare. Even in the case of light tones and weak hues, they can be called colored diamonds as long as they appear in a position facing up. Red, green and blue diamonds with medium to dark tones and moderate saturation are extremely rare.

Round Cut Diamonds

Color round cut diamond grading is a complicated and specialized job that requires highly trained experts to complete the process accurately.

For example, yellow diamonds have a wide range of shades, while blue diamonds do not.

Red or reddish diamonds are very rare and of high value. Pure pink is more popular than purple, orange, brown, and gray. When people in the industry promote such attractive diamonds, they often use "rose-colored" to describe them. Purple diamonds are described as "mauve."

Blue diamonds are extremely rare. They are generally grayish, so there are few saturated colors like blue sapphires. Green color diamonds generally have a light hue and a low Chroma. The color is often not noticeable, slightly gray or brown.

The color is generally in the yellow-green range. For most green diamonds, the color is limited to the surface and rarely extends to the entire diamond. This is why the cutter will try to keep the rough as much as possible around the bottom. The color of green diamonds is caused by radiation that shifts carbon atoms in the crystal structure from normal positions. It occurs naturally when the diamond deposit is located near the radioactive rock or is treated by artificial radiation.

For color diamonds, color is a key factor in determining its value. Even though diamonds have countless inclusions that cause their clarity levels to decrease, they are still sought after by connoisseurs if they face up in attractive colors. Of course, the inclusion of gemstones can jeopardize the sturdiness of the gemstone, thus greatly reducing the value of the colored diamond. Colored cushion cut loose diamonds may have colored crystals that are considered an inclusion.
