Tips to Improve Laptop Life

The laptops are expensive devices made for mobility. If you want that your laptop lasts for a long time, you should really do take care of it. There are some tips given below, which will help you to learn how to take care of your laptop, and laptop battery.

Cleaning

Your laptop is an expensive device, so be careful while cleaning the laptop screen. The cloth should be very soft and clean to avoid the scratches on the screen. Also the cloth should be lint-free; otherwise the cloth will leave fiber on the screen and make the display screen unclear. If you want to use the cleaning spray, do not use it directly on the screen. Take a soft cloth, spray on it, and then clean the dust and dirt from the screen.

Choosing the Spray

Choose a soft cleaning spray to clean the laptop screen, because it is the most expensive, and sensitive part of your laptop. Harsh spray may turn your laptop screen yellow or may crack it. You can also use vinegar or plain water to clean the laptop screen.

Placing the Laptop

Place your laptop at least 13 cm away from any electric appliance, because, these electric appliances generate a strong magnetic field that may damage the hard drive or the data on it.

Give it Some Time

If you have just shut down you laptop, then give it at least 1 minute to cool down before start it again.

Data Backup

Laptops are just like cell phones, and have danger of breakage at any time. The hard drive may also crash at any time. So, always back up your data.

Laptop Battery Care

Many people do not care about the battery of their laptop, which leads to short battery life. Usually, three types of laptop batteries are available in the market. These are:

  • Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd)

This type of laptop battery must be completely discharged, and then completely recharged every few weeks. If you do not do this, it will rapidly loose it’s life.

  • Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)

These batteries are also just like Nickel-Cadmium batteries. But these have higher capacity. They also require fully discharged, and then fully recharged after some weeks.

  • Lithium Ion (Li-ion)

These batteries are latest type of batteries, and have no memory effect problem. But these lose their effectiveness if overcharged, or left it for a long time with a full charge.

Keep Your Laptop Battery Healthy

To keep your laptop’s battery healthy, charge the battery to its capacity for daily use. Also use your laptop’s original battery in rotation with a separate laptop battery.

Battery Storage

If you do not use your laptop for a long period of time, fully discharged its battery, and then remove the battery pack from the laptop. After doing this store the battery in a dry, cool place, and avoid it from heat, and humidity.

Use a Laptop Case

Use a laptop case that should be soft from inside, and hard from outside. It should be able to avoid the laptop from shocks, and also carry laptop accessories.

Keep Eatables Away

Do not eat or drink around your laptop. Some sensitive circuits of laptop may short circuit due to a drop of water.

No Hard Booting

Avoid turning off your laptop by simply holding the power button, it may cause harmful damage to hard drive or data loss.
