Every person who is planning to build or remodel a structure should blindly invest in a green building. There are several benefits in going green. There are several negative things that are spoken more often but they can easily be overlooked if one considers the benefits of a green building. There are several green building consulting firms that are investing big time in the green concept and also adapting to modern technology to widen their options.

Here are five common misconceptions or myths about a green building:

  1. Going green is very expensive and takes a toll on the building budget: Green building consulting and construction can be economical if all the resources are sourced from environment-friendly companies and green companies. There are so many recycled materials available and that can be used in the construction of the building that is available at a very low price. Yes, it is very difficult to source them and that might be a bit more expensive.

  2. Green products do not save the environment in reality: Green buildings are clean and the surroundings of the buildings are also pristine without any toxic materials lurking in the environment. So, of course, green building consulting is very sensible and environment-friendly. A green construction company does not use any toxic chemicals and other materials that can damage the surroundings and pollute the environment. Even the transport that they use is non-polluting like electric vehicles for example.

  3. Green buildings are not tried and tested: The concept of green buildings has been around for more than a few decades now and it still remains new because there are no takers. However, because of the increasing effects of global warming, people have started realizing the importance of going green and now are investing in green buildings. They are not as common as the regular buildings so it will take time for the concept to establish itself.

  4. Green buildings are not sustainable in harsh weather conditions: Green buildings are made with the same material that the regular structures are made with but in an environmentally friendly way. They have more capacity to sustain harsh weather conditions compared to other regular constructions. The construction techniques are pretty much the same.

  5. Brick and mortar are more reliable compared to green buildings: Green buildings are also equally reliable as they are constructed using the latest technologies and the quality of construction is not compromised. The material used for construction should have passed quality tests.

One must understand that green buildings are more difficult to build and takes more effort compared to regular buildings. However, it is a one-time investment and worth the effort.
