2019 Design Trends for Offices

Office interior trends nowadays are focussed on making an uplifting and motivating ambience to the workplace to help both employees of the business as well as clients who may visit. The design of these workspaces is becoming an increasingly more important aspect of successful businesses, especially with the introduction of new technology. Here are some potential trends we might expect to see in the offices of 2019.

Staff Social Spaces

Previously, offices were designed with functionality in mind with the aim of making the most of the available space. We can expect to see much more focus on the social spaces allocated for staff in order to improve their day to day work experience. Previous use of staff social areas may include spaces to play games and music. It is quite widely thought that by creating a much more positive work place that employee retention is improved and a greater quality pool of employees is attracted to the business.

Old Meets New

Projects in the last year saw some companies wanting to make use of the existing features of their office building rather than hiding or completely changing them. Examples of this include maintaining old brick work or metal architectural structures and decorating them with more modern furnishings. This provides a range of textures within the workspace and draws away from the stereotypical office aesthetic.

Brand Identity

Companies can further reflect their brand image through the interior design of their office space through the building, layout and decoration. This can help to spread the companies identity throughout the business’ staff members as well as helping to improve how it presents itself to clients.

Flexible Work Space

As the prices of buying or renting office space continues to be a significant cost for businesses, it may be a struggle to find sufficient space for all of the company’s needs. With this in mind, we can expect to see an increase in the use of furniture which can be rearranged or even stored away easily, which will allow office spaces to be used for multiple reasons. Furthermore this can provide employees with a sense of freedom and more importantly comfort within their workplace.

Bright Colours

The end of 2018 saw the less office colour schemes turning towards more neutral and grey interiors, and instead inviting the use of bright colour, which further helps to create a positive and motivating energy within the office. This works particularly well with the brand identity, especially when the company’s brand colours can be used as a feature throughout the design of the office.
