Brief Introduction of Underwater Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Underwater Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a device that can move underwater, which has vision and perception system and uses remote control or autonomous operation mode. It uses manipulator or other tools to replace or assist people to complete underwater operations. In the 1970s, underwater UAVs have made great progress. A number of robots have been developed which can work in various depths and in various operations. They can be used in the fields of oil exploitation, seabed mineral exploration, salvage operation, pipeline laying and inspection, cable laying and inspection, marine aquaculture and dam inspection of rivers and reservoirs.

Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) can be divided into three categories: one is cable underwater UAV, commonly known as Towing Underwater Vehicle (TUV). Another one is remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). Another is cable-free underwater UAV, commonly known as Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). AUV for short. Since the first generation of deep submersible in the 1960s, the ROV (1970s), AUV (1980s) and Hybrid Vehicles have evolved.
