Before taking your TOEFL test, be sure to set aside time to prepare this important assessment. Like many other tests, and especially for this language test, there are no shortcuts to get a high score on the TOEFL, you have to earn it. In 2005, the ETS introduced the Internet-based test system (iBT), which makes it easier for candidates around the world to take the test. They added a voice component, developed the writing section and revised the test, so they had to use their English skills in an integrated manner. Here are some tips that will guide you through the English Test!

Books

There is a wide range of manuals containing useful tips and test techniques for the test, available in paper or digital format. A complete book should include exercises, a list of frequently tested items and experience tests. Some even come with an audio CD that contains phrases commonly used in the Listening section. Do not forget to take the copy for the new version of the TOEFL.

Online resources

Doing a hands-on online test on the computer will be a good starting point for preparing the test on the Internet. On the official ETS website there are free and paid practice preparation tools. Do some and consider them simulations in timed sessions to get an idea of the test conditions in front of your computer. This should make you feel more comfortable before taking the test. Language schools and practice book publishers have many resources on the Internet. There are sites that even permit you to download audio clips. Use them to practice, practice and practice!

Writing

The test writing element requires you to write a test to support your opinion in the answers to the documents you can hear and read. To be successful in this section, you must have writing skills. Although it is not difficult to write a quality essay and well thought out, there are some basic principles to include in each essay. These include a well-planned test structure with a solid introduction, a body and a conclusion.

Be sure to include your thesis statement, your own thematic phrases, your ideas and statements in support of your opinion and a conclusion that succinctly summarizes the essay by reiterating your thesis statement and key points of interest article. As there is a time limit for the writing section, practice preparing a test by organizing your ideas and writing them on a piece of paper so that you are used to working under the pressure of time. Speaking

In this section, you will be asked to wear a hearing aid and speak into a microphone. Think the best way to practice this section is, as expected here, to participate in a conversation with a native English speaker. Without a doubt, this will help you to feel more comfortable speaking the language. Another way is to read aloud; this could be the newspaper or your favorite books. Only when you read aloud will you notice the small mistakes you make in your pronunciation, intonation, inflection and enunciation. A good way to get these elements is to model your speech after reporters or radio DJs. Do not be afraid to imitate them watching the news, it’s a good practice!
