Steps involved in Frozen Embryo Transfer ( FET)

The patients who required frozen embryo transfer will first undergo a fresh IVF cycle to produce embryos. During this assisted reproductive process, Dr. Shivani Sachdev Gour will harvest eggs through a natural or medicated assisted ovulation cycle and fertilize the eggs with the partner’s or with the donor’s sperm. All viable embryos are frozen, after about five days of growth in the laboratory.

Dr. Shivani Sachdev Gour is highly dedicated to their patients and design specific treatment to each individual patient’s specific requirements and desires during providing frozen embryo transfer. It generally takes about six to eight weeks for the complete procedure of IVF and frozen embryo transfer. It requires about three weeks in frozen embryo transfer procedure itself.

 

Pre-Screening

During the initial consultation, Dr. Shivani will meet their patients to discuss their medical, fertility, surgical and familial history. In addition, she will probably perform a pelvic ultrasound, and routine blood tests to examine for the ovarian strength, genetic disorders, infectious diseases and other factors unique to each individual patient. Apart from this, she will evaluate the internal contours of the uterus and the quality of the sperm.

 

Oral Medication

Dr. Shivani holds it necessary, and she will prescribe three to four weeks of birth control to regulate patient’s hormone cycle. Although estrogen injections, birth control, and other medications are supported by many specialists in the fertility industry, Dr Shivani Sachdev recommend using medication only at the patient’s request or when it's absolutely essential. In all cases, she prefers to respect and safeguard the patient’s natural cycle.

 

Injections

Dr. Shivani Sachdev Gour will evaluate the uterus and ovaries and, if necessary, apply stimulation medication (injections), starting of the second or third day of the menstrual cycle. Over the next 10-12 days, the ovaries will be monitored closely with ultrasound on a regular basis. When the eggs are found to be ready, the egg retrieval procedure will start. Once retrieved, the eggs are fertilized and grown in the IVF laboratory for five to six days and then the eggs are frozen.

 

FET Preparation

Most patients will begin their natural menstrual period about two weeks after the egg retrieval procedure. Dr. Shivani will perform an ultrasound and begin estrogen pills to prepare the endometrial lining on the second or third day of that cycle. A week later, the patient visits for an ultrasound to check the endometrial lining and then again they visit for the same test about five days later. At this instance, progesterone is started through either vaginal suppositories or injections. The embryo transfer is then possibly scheduled five days later.

 

Natural FET

For some patients, Dr. Shivani will perform a natural FET. This process needs very less or no medication and is based on the patient’s natural organic ovulation cycle. Natural FET can be a better and considerably safe procedure for some specific patients. In fact, there are few patients who have failed multiple standard IVF cycles, only to conceive with a natural FET process. In fact, this process requires great skillfulness and patience to execute properly. Embryo Transfer

The selected patient's embryos will be carefully thawed in the IVF laboratory, five days after starting progesterone. Using ultrasound guidance, Dr. Shivani will precisely transfer patient's embryo into their pr their surrogate’s uterus where it will be able to attach and develop into a healthy baby.
